WTF does gray area mean?

After this quarter I get one week off. One week.

Thusly, I've already made plans to either binge heavily (relatively speaking), or detox.

PS, it seems there's no definitive way to spell 'gray/grey.' I even wiki'ed it. That's probably the stuff art majors study in school.
